Palestinian hunger striker dies in Israeli custody

RAMALLAH, Palestinian Territories: A Palestinian hunger striker and top figure in the Islamic Jihad group in the occupied West Bank died in custody Tuesday, Israel’s prison service and a source in the militant group said.
“A national security detainee… (who) began a hunger strike on 5.2.23, died this morning,” the prison service said in a statement, adding that he was “affiliated with the Islamic Jihad.”
A source in Islamic Jihad said the deceased was Khader Adnan, 45, a leading figure in the group in the northern West Bank.
